Karen L. McCombs

Karen L. McCombs, 87, of Linton Indiana, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on November 15, 1937 in Linton to John W. and Dorothy Ann (Sharp) West. Karen married Raymond T. McCombs on October 16, 1955.

Karen was a life-long member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ and was also a member of the Linton Church of Christ. She was brought up in the West Island area, graduating from Marco High School with the Class of 1955. She remained close to her classmates over the years. Karen was active in Republican Politics. She worked as a clerk at May’s Flower Shop and then the United States Bureau of the Census for 35 years before retiring in 2009.

Karen is survived by: one son, Randy (Marsha) McCombs of Linton; five daughters, Pamela (Chuck) Ingram of Bloomfield, Beth (David) Dillman of Spencer, Sara (Michael) Schantz of Lyons, Sandra Miller of Worthington and Laura (Brad) Daywalt of Evansville; fourteen grandchildren, Tanner (Branda) Buskirk, Amber (Josh) Cates, Madison Daywalt, Samuel Daywalt, Lydia (Andrew) Hamilton, Lauren (Ralph) Hoffman, Shea Buskirk Imhausen, Angela (Tony) James, Autumn McCombs, Aubree Miller, Braden Mishler, Bryce Schantz, Andrea (Jon) Sluder and Paige (Sylvester) Tegos; sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Raymond McCombs; brothers, infant Jack Maynard West, John M. ‘Jim’ West, Milton B. ‘Bud’ West and David L. West; sisters, Sally Skidmore and Suzanne Oliver.

Funeral services to honor the life of Karen will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Bro. Pat Kelly officiating. Karen will be laid to rest in Marco Cemetery in Marco, Indiana.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the funeral home.
