The Greene County Cemetery Commission and Heritage Preservations LLC will host a cemetery repair workshop from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Kentucky Ridge Cemetery in Doans. The cemetery is located near the intersection of State Road 58 and County Road 750 East.

A Linton man faces drug and impaired-driving charges following a Sept. 8 traffic stop near Sunset Park Campground, according to a probable cause affidavit.

A woman was arrested on a methamphetamine charge after Greene County sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported domestic dispute at a Solsberry gas station, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Greene County voters will have an opportunity to meet candidates seeking local and state offices during a “Meet the Candidates” event Wednesday, Sept. 16, in Linton.

The event, hosted by the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce, will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Roy Clark Community Building.

Voters in the Metropolitan School District of Shakamak will decide in November whether to approve an operating referendum that could generate up to $499,000 annually for the district for no more than eight years. 

Pace Community Action Agency will begin accepting applications Oct. 1 for its 2026-27 Energy Assistance Program. The program provides a one-time benefit to help income-qualified households in Daviess, Greene, Knox and Sullivan counties offset the cost of their primary heating source. During the previous season, approximately 2,800 households received more than $1.6 million in assistance.

MicroVote will conduct a public test of Greene County’s electronic voting equipment at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28. The test will take place in the Voter Registration Office on the second floor of the Greene County Courthouse. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend and observe the testing process. A Linton man arrested Sept. 3 on an outstanding warrant is facing additional drug-related charges after police allegedly found a glass smoking device in his pocket that later field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a road closure for State Road 57 in Greene County. Beginning on or around Tuesday, September 22, crews will close State Road 57 near Newberry. This closure will occur over the White River. The closure of S.R. 57 will allow for a bridge deck overlay project. Work is expected to last through mid-October, depending on the weather. The official detour for this closure is State Road 58 to State Road 67 to State Road 54. Local traffic will have access up to the point of closure. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones.

Bob Walters Linton Motors is supporting the Linton Food Pantry, operated by SON Ministries, as its September partner for the dealership's Cars for a Cause program. Throughout September, the dealership will make a donation to the food pantry for select services performed at Bob Walters Linton Motors. The business will donate $5 for every oil change, $10 for every alignment, and $20 for every transmission service. The dealership will also serve as a collection location for dry goods donated to the Linton Food Pantry throughout the month.

The City of Linton is under a precautionary boil advisory effective immediately following overnight maintenance to the city's water system. According to the Linton Water Department, the system experienced a drop in water pressure while maintenance was being performed, prompting the precautionary advisory. The department anticipates the boil advisory will be lifted around midday Thursday, Sept. 10.
