Joseph (Joe) Ammer Medina
/Joseph (Joe) Ammer Medina 53, of Bloomfield, went home to be with his Lord Thursday, July 10, 2025. He was born September 25, 1971 in Bloomington, Indiana to Tom and Sherry (Ammer) Medina.
Joe is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jenny (Luse) Medina, and his three children Graysen, Morgan, and Owen all of Bloomfield, Indiana. He is also survived by his brother Tom (Debbie) Medina and sister Marcy Medina of Bloomfield, several nieces and nephews, some wonderful in-laws, and some incredibly special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Eddy Medina; and his grandparents Gib and Marceil Ammer, and Juan and Ruth Medina.
He worked as a contractor for much of his life, then later became an insurance agent. The work was never as important to Joe as the relationships he built along the way. The friendships he built at SAIC and Indiana Farm Bureau lasted far beyond his years of service.
Joe was enormously proud of his hometown. He served as the president of Bloomfield’s Chamber of Commerce, helped in the beginning of the Bloomfield Downtown Revitalization, and was integral in saving the “Old Hotel.” He could talk Bloomfield sports; past, present, and future, for hours on end with anyone willing. He coached many years, and loved when players and coaches came by to visit.
His pride in Bloomfield could only be topped by his pride in his family. Watching his children shine was his greatest joy. From gyms across the state to the Shawnee Theatre, Joe was there- coaching and cheering them on. He considered himself to have led a blessed life and loved his wife, children, and family immensely.
Joe was an entertainer. He could play the drums, trumpet, guitar, and anything else he tried. He was a singer, actor, juggler, and, of course, comedian. If you knew him you’ve laughed with him, and should count yourself lucky.
Visitation will be held from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at Tulip Church of God. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Tulip Church of God in Bloomfield; Monday, July 14, 2025 at 5:30 P.M. with a reception following. Visitation before the service will begin at 4:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make donations to the Shawnee Theatre in his name https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/TXPT26M293KX2 . Joe first fell in love with the stage during Shawnee Summer Theatre in 1984, then fell in love with the girl on the stage in 1991.
