Louisiana man arrested on drug charges in eastern Greene County
/A Pineville, La., man appeared in Greene Superior Court Nov. 13 following a Nov. 6 arrest on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.
Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Michael Stanley arrested William Cody Wilson, 30, in the late evening hours of Nov. 6.
Deputy Stanley was dispatched to the Pinewood Gas Station in regard to a male subject – later identified as Wilson – possibly in need of medical attention. Upon arrival, Deputy Stanley and Deputy Bobby Just spoke with Wilson, who said he was not in need of medical attention. Wilson was lying near the front doors of the gas station and alleged he had permission to sleep there that night.
Deputy Stanley contacted dispatch to locate a phone number for the gas station’s owner. While dispatch attempted to locate the phone number, according to the probable cause affidavit, Deputy Stanley was advised Wilson was wanted on a failure to appear warrant out of Pennsylvania. Dispatch informed they were checking to see if Pennsylvania would extradite Wilson.
While waiting for the response on extradition, Deputy Stanley advised Wilson of the Pennsylvania warrant and asked him to place his hands behind his back. Wilson complied.
Deputy Stanley searched Wilson’s person due to the arrest. According to the probable cause affidavit, a black satchel was located underneath Wilson’s jacket. The satchel had two zipper pouches. Inside the first pouch, Stanley located a plastic bag containing green plant-like material. Stanley wrote in the probable cause affidavit that he recognized the odor to be consistent with marijuana. Inside the second pouch, Stanley located a clear smoking device with green plant-like material and a white powder residue coated on the inside. Wilson alleged the residue would not test positive for anything but marijuana.
Deputy Stanley field-tested the white powder residue. It was positive for methamphetamine. The green plant-like material later field-tested positive for the presence of THC.
