Kermit Edison Holsclaw
/Kermit Edison Holsclaw, 91 of Bloomfield Indiana (Ridgeport) went home to be with the Lord on July 8, 2025 at 1:00 a.m. at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Kermit was born in Newberry, Indiana on September 21, 1933, to Edison and Marian (Hodges) Holtsclaw.
Kermit was a son, a husband, a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.
He was a Navy veteran, a retiree from Crane Naval Base, and during his 30 years at Crane he traveled to many foreign countries as part of his duties. He was a member of the American Legion for 60 years and served as commander for 10 years at Solsberry American Legion Post 450.
Kermit also served as Center Township Trustee and Greene County Commissioner. He volunteered several years with CASA and attended Word of Life Fellowship Church.
Kermit was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Phyllis, infant boy and sister Janice Reece.
He is survived by his wife Bernadene (Pruett) Holtsclaw of 70 years, his three children, Jim (Kathy) Holtsclaw, Duane (Mellodee) Holtsclaw, and Mona Holtsclaw. Three siblings, Philip (Dianna) Holtsclaw, Jeanette (Jim) Vermilya and Francis (Greg) Laubsch, and brother-in-law Kenneth Reece. Grandchildren Patrick Sparks, Sarah Sparks, Ashley Sparks, Chad Holtsclaw, Shane Holtsclaw, Lisa Sullivan, Sean Sullivan, Benjamin Holtsclaw, and Jessica Phillips. Great Grandchildren Connor Holtsclaw, Ayden Holtsclaw, Emily Fulford, Dylan Trimble, Steve, Adam and JR Phillips, Haley Holtsclaw, Noah Holtsclaw, Sadie Holtsclaw, Asher Lewis and Freya Buntin. Great Great Grandchild Tanner Fulford and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2025 at Word of Life Fellowship Church, East Highway 54, Bloomfield with Brother Eugene Helms officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Ridgeport Cemetery.
