Janet McCarter, age 89, of Worthington, passed away peacefully at 2:24 am on Friday, February 7, 2025, at her residence. She was born in Lake County, IN on December 11, 1935, the daughter of Benham & Josie (Mitten) Williams.

She was a graduate of Coal City High School. She married William A. Waggoner in 1955 and they established their home in Worthington where they raised their three sons. After William's passing she then married Paul McCarter, Jr and he preceded her in death as well. She enjoyed crocheting and oil painting. She was an accomplished artist winning many awards including the State of Indiana Wild Life Calendar, County Fairs and oil painting contests. She worked at Bob and Gail's grocery store as well as Johnny's Onion Ring Factory.

Janet is survived by her sons,Robert (Lilia) Waggoner of Williston, ND and Tim Waggoner of Worthington; grandchildren, Christopher (Kieran) Waggoner, Jason Waggoner, Amy Waggoner, Hanna Waggoner, Heather Maxwell, Alison Waggoner, Amber Waggoner and Zack (Lexie) Waggoner as well as several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son, Joseph Waggoner; grandson, Devin Waggoner as well as brothers, John Williams and Benham Williams, Jr.

Private services will be observed by the family.
