Jerry Lee Newsom, age 81, of Worthington, passed away peacefully at 4:15 PM on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Glenburn Home in Linton. He was born in Linton on August 22, 1943, the son of Robert and Geneva (Scott) Newsom.

Jerry was a 1963 graduate of Worthington-Jefferson High School. He spent his life as a farmer. He also worked as a contractor, and retired from Mainsource Bank working in Maintenance. Jerry enjoyed raising cattle, doing carpentry work, watching IU Basketball, and his grandchildren.

He grew up as a member of the Folsom United Methodist Church in Worthington, and later attended the Worthington Christian Church.

He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Chantel & Steve Carpenter of Worthington and Ingrid & Stacey Hill of Bloomfield; four grandsons, Trent Carpenter (Alysa), Trey Carpenter (fiance'-Imagin Morgan), Cade Hill (Nicole), and Conner Hill; four great-grandchildren, Hadley Carpenter, Bria Hill, Brenna Hill, and Brantley Hill; and a sister, Delea Dinsmore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jacqueline Sue (Calvert) Newsom, and a brother, Larry Newsom.

Graveside service will be held at Worthington Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 21, 2025, with Pastor Dan Holtsclaw officiating.

There will be no public visitation.
