It's Freedom Festival time in Linton
/It’s Freedom Festival time in Linton, which means it’s time for the carnival, bandstand, nightly entertainment in Humphreys Park, parade, fireworks, and more!
Events kick off June 30 with the Baby Freedom, Little Stars and Little Stripes, and Miss Sparkler and Mr. Firecracker contests at 7 p.m. at the bandshell of Humphreys Park.
Entertainment continues nightly. On July 1 at 6:30 p.m., music will be provided by Big D. Calvary Baptist Church will provide music at 7 p.m. on July 2. At 6:30 p.m. on July 3, Bubba Wiggles will perform. July 4 brings two performances: Holly and Lee Marcum at 6 p.m. and Old N Gold Band at 7 p.m. Brad Harris will provide entertainment at 7 p.m. on July 5.
This year, the Freedom Festival welcomes a new carnival into town–Funtime Carnival. Rides will open at 6 p.m. July 1-July 5. Armbands for all-you-can-ride are available July 1 and July 5 for $30. July 2, 3, and 4, rides will operate on tickets only. Tickets are $3.75 each or 10 for $35. Each ride requires one ticket.
The Bandstand, which supports the Linton-Stockton High School band and kadets, opens June 30 and will run until July 6. Hours are 11 a.m. to midnight daily, except for July 4 when it opens at 4 p.m. They’ll be serving fish, tenderloins, burgers, hot dogs, sloppy joes, nachos, fries, and bottled drinks.
The annual Freedom Festival Parade, themed Keep Freedom Alive, will take place at 10 a.m. on July 4. Prior to the parade, Linton Civitan will host a ham and egg breakfast at the Linton Fire Department.
The 4th will conclude with fireworks at 10:30 p.m. Viewing will be available at the front of Humphreys Park or at the baseball/softball complex.
