Jose R. Lardizabal

Jose R. Lardizabal, 65, of Bloomfield, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at his residence.

He was born on February 11, 1960, in Decatur, Illinois, to Jose M. and Willie (Johnston) Lardizabal.

Jose dedicated his career to helping others, working as a Mental Health Technician at Meadows Hospital in Bloomington. He earned his LPN from Ivy Tech and proudly served in the U.S. Air National Guard. During his time at Indiana University, he was a member of Sigma Pi fraternity.

A man of many interests, Jose enjoyed playing guitar, listening to music of all kinds, following Formula One racing, tinkering in the garage, watching football, and cheering on Caitlin Clark on the basketball court. He also found joy and expression through painting.

He is survived by his daughter, Vanessa R. Lardizabal (Ernst); two sisters, Rita A. Lardizabal and Patricia (Keith) Graves; his aunt, Emy Fabie; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home, officiated by his dear friends Brad Barkley and Chris Mattox. Jose will be laid to rest at Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield, with military honors presented by the Bloomfield American Legion Post #196.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Jose’s name to Grandview Cemetery.
